Pecan Pie Cookies

1 cup butter 
1/2 cup sugar 
1/2 cup dark corn syrup 
2 eggs - separated 
2 1/2 cups flour 
Pecan Filling 

1/2 cup powdered sugar 
1/4 cup butter 
3 Tbsp dark corn syrup 
1/2 cup chopped pecans 

1.Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup.
2.Stir to blend. 
3.Cook over medium heat,stirring occassionally 
until mixture reaches a full boil. 
4.Remove from heat and stir in pecans. 
5.Cool slightly, but use while still 
warm and soft enough to be workable. 
6.Cream butter and sugar on low 
speed with an electric mixer,add corn syrup and
egg yolks, beat well.
7.Stir in flour. 
8.Chill several hours. 
9.Beat egg whites slightly.
10.Roll 1 teaspoon of dough per cookie into balls. 
11.Brush with egg whites and place on a greased cookie sheet. 
12.Bake at 375 for 5 minutes. 
13.Roll 1/2 teaspoon of filling into a ball and press
firmly into the center of each cookie. 
14.Return to oven to bake 5 more minutes.
